The Oshwall Association of the UK approached Owls Hall with a need to replace an old sewage treatment plant that was no longer adequate at the site by Northaw, Herts. Increased attendance and the construction of a new temple for congregations had meant the old treatment plant was failing to cope and therefore not meeting discharge consent levels.
The temple itself usually held between 100 and 500 people twice a week for people attending worship. Weddings at the venue also saw up to 1000 people and could potentially be held up to 7 days a week. These also included catering which varied depending on specific functions. In addition to this, annual religious festivals such as Diwali would see 700-800 people attending at a time.
Owls Hall listened to the needs of the committee and also established possible expansion plans in the future so that any proposed replacement would remain suitable for a long time. Owls Hall Environmental designed a system that would meet these needs and also achieved all current environmental and legislative requirements.

At this stage it was standard procedure for the Oshwal committee to seek further independent advice when making a large capital investment. The independent advisor they consulted requested proposals from two further companies for the project and after careful consideration, recommended Owls Hall as the best partner to carry out the project.
A modular RBC treatment plant was specified and within the design the existing tanks on site were adapted to act as an over flow device in the event of power failure, with high water level alarms when power was restored. As food was also consumed on site, Owls Hall recommended that a grease system also be installed to comply with the latest regulations whilst also ensuring the smooth running of the treatment system in the future. This helped to reduce the chances of a breakdown in the future potentially decreasing the running costs.
Further to this it was crucial for the work carried out by Owls Hall Environmental to adhere to the religious schedule at the temple and venue so that minimal disruption would occur to weddings and other events. It was also of vital importance that the work did not impact visually on the architecture of the building.
The completed project has aided in the continued successful expansion of the Oshwal UK community and the construction of the temple has provided a spectacular new building for congregations.
