Klargester BioDisc® BA, BA-X, BB, BC and BD (1 to 4 properties)*
For Domestic Dwellings without mains drainage, the Bio Disc from Klargester provides a reliable, efficient and environmentally safe solution to your sewage disposal needs. Its ideal for locations where discharge is to sub-surface irrigation, or to a suitable watercourse where approved by the Environment Agency, or appropriate regulating Body and where a septic tank will not meet the required standard.
- The Bio Disc is robustly constructed from corrosion free materials which help ensure the long life of the system.
- All treatment plants supplied by Owls Hall meet the July 2008 European Standard EN 12566 - Part 3 - Annexe B performance test regulations. The Bio Disc has achieved up to (95%) efficiency under varying loads and conditions through stringent testing procedures.
- It is the only treatment plant using the advanced Rotating Biological Contractor technology for small domestic homes. The Biodisc uses rotating discs as a medium for supporting bacteria which carry out the aerobic treatment process. Primary and final settlement are contained within the unit which also has a totally unique flow management system to provide optimum performance under all circumstances.
- The Bio Disc has the lowest running and maintenance cost of all treatment plants in its class.
- Manufactured under the quality procedures of BS ISO9001: 2000
- Low Running costs combined with the quality and durability of the equipment all add up to significantly lower life time costs.
- Owls Hall offer a full commissioning and after sales service involving planned maintenance visits. Please visit our servicing section for more information.

- The Bio Disc ensures optimum performance by smoothing peak flows and buffering biological loads through out the whole day.
- Access for service and maintenance is provided via a durable, unobtrusive cover at ground level.
- Three standard drain invert level options are available from stock to match the site topography and where applicable, minimise the excavation depth which helps decrease the cost of installation.
- Separate sample chambers are available for accurate and convenient effluent sampling, as required by the relevant authorities
- BA, BA-X and BB Bio Disc’s are available with an integral pump to move effluent from point of treatment if site level demands.
Alarm Systems
Complete monitoring and control
The new control panels offer a range of features and benefits including:
- Optional alarm facility
- Digital display with fault code to speed up fault diagnosis
- Rapid wiring installation
- Facility for optional telemetry to be fitted
- Flasher beacon available if required
The control panel is able to communicate the nature of any fault, including loss of rotation, pump failure, or power failure. The display will inform the householder, or maintenance representative on site via a digital display and fault code. The system also features a highly visible external beacon (optional) as a primary warning.
All treatment plants should preferably be no closer than 7m from the nearest habitable property to comply with local building authority regulations.

Applications which include waste disposal units will require special sizing. Please consult Owls Hall.
* Optional invert depths of 450mm and 1250mm are available.
† Optional invert depth of 1100mm is available.
** Optional integral pump available in BA, BA-X and BB models
** We can provide a PGD (pumped gravity discharge) version in addition to the IPS version which is designed to simply pump vertically to overcome invert differentials.
Selecting the correct Bio Disc™ for your needs
There are two options to choose from within our range of small Bio Disc: the standard gravity version and the Integral Pump model (IPS).
There are also a number of size options in each.
The following information will help you decide which model and size you need.
- The size of treatment plant you require.
- BA6 - average house
- BA-X - large house
- BB - 2 houses
- The depth of inlet you require (known as the drainage invert).
This is the distance between your sewage drain pipe and ground level (or how deep your drains are). Measure the depth from ground level to your underground sewage drainpipe. The measurement will help you determine which of the three sizes you require. - How should you dispose of the wastewater?
When your sewage has been treated the resulting water needs to be released to a soakaway area or is clean enough to go into a watercourse. Owls Hall are able to assist with the legal requirement of obtaining a consent to discharge from the Environment Agency or other regulatory body prior to installation. - Do you need a ‘Gravity’ or ‘IPS’ unit?
You may find that your soakaway area/watercourse area is some distance away from the outlet pipe where the Bio Disc™ releases the treated water. If this is the case, you may need to use a model which has the ability to pump treated water. These are our Integral Pump models (IPS).
How Bio Disc is installed
The unit is normally installed in the ground with the cover protruding above the surface. It can protrude above ground level if required by site levels.
- A Bio Disc™ should preferably be sited no closer than 10m from the nearest house.
- The plant should be surrounded by concrete and seated on a concrete base.
Owls Hall offer a full Installation service. Please visit our Installation section for more information.
Maintenance
Bio Disc™ is designed for low-cost and easy maintenance.
Under normal usage your Bio Disc™ will require periodic emptying. Please visit our service & De-sludging Frequency section for information
Owls Hall offer a full commissioning and after sales service involving planned maintenance visits. Please visit our servicing section for more information
*Based on the number of people in full time residential occupation
All Klargester products have a full initial 12 month warranty covering all mechanical and electrical components against malfunction, provided the unit has not been subject to damage or abuse.
